“Parliament 1918-1920”: Who Enjoyed Right to Vote?

There were times when a citizen should be 20 years old for taking part in the elections of the members of the parliament. At those times, the ones who were in the military service did not have a right to take part. And just at those times the right to vote in the elections of the parliament was considered as enjoyment.

The parliamentary elections of Armenia for 1980-1920 were held according to such articles of the Electoral Code.

“Article 1. The population chooses the members of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia without gender discrimination – based on common and equal suffrage, just by voting and secret ballot, applying the principle of the comparative representation.

Article 2. During the implementation of the elections of the Parliament of the Republic of Armenia the content space of the Government is one constituency. The number of the members of the Parliament is defined eighty (80).

Article 3. The citizens of both genders of the Republic of Armenia who will be 20 years old on the election’s day, enjoy the right to vote in the Parliamentary elections.

Familiar. The ones who are really in the military service have no right to vote in elections.

Article 4. Those who are legally crazy or mad do not take part in elections: Also, deaf and dumb people who are the subject to guardianship.”
